Justice Shows Taxpayers the Money

St. Petersburg – This week, amidst talks of budget shortfalls and cuts to many state programs, Senator Charlie Justice (D-St. Petersburg) took matters into his own hands and reimbursed the state over $13,000 of his allotted budget for office expenses. Every legislator in Florida is given a stipend to use for rent and other expenses. Senator Justice has returned over a third of the allotted amount, proving his fiscal responsibility and ability to efficiently run his district office.

“We hear many legislators in Tallahassee talk about ‘tightening belts’ or ‘spending less’, but I hope to lead by example and save these precious dollars for more important areas like education and healthcare.”

Since his election in 2006, Senator Justice has worked out of his modest St. Petersburg office which he feels is both in a prime location for constituents to reach him, and in an area where office rental rates are reasonable. Another cost saving area for Justice is travel. Justice drives as opposed to paying skyrocketing airline rates and does not attend conferences or conventions at taxpayer expense.
