TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — State Representative Dwayne Taylor (D-Daytona Beach) has written Governor Charlie Crist urging him to veto Senate Bill 6.

Despite numerous attempts to amend the legislation, the Florida House of Representatives approved Senate Bill 6 on April 9 at 2:26 a.m. with no amendments accepted from either Democratic or Republican members.

“As representatives of the State of Florida, our jobs consist of making tough decisions. But hurting our teachers, students, and families by passing laws with sketchy or no implementation standards is reckless and detrimental to the governmental process,” said Representative Taylor.

In his letter, Representative Taylor urges Governor Crist to protect those Floridians who protect and teach the children of our state.

“Florida’s teachers deserve respect, fair, and justifiable pay for the profession that they partake in because they are entrusted with Florida’s most prized possession, our children,” said Representative Taylor.

Teachers, students and families of the State of Florida have sent numerous emails and made many phone calls in opposition to Senate Bill 6.Their last resort for stopping Senate Bill 6 rests with Governor Crist.
