Alex Sink for Goverrnor: Sink for Governor Update

April 25, 2010 Politics No Comments

This week continued to prove the strength of Alex Sink’s campaign for Governor. With the newly released Quinnipiac and Rasmussen polls proving the race for Florida’s next Governor is neck and neck, Alex traveled the state with two stops on her Business Plan for Florida Tour. Meanwhile, the Republican Party of Florida struggled with confirmation that the FBI, IRS and U.S. Attorney are all investigating their scandalous activities-an issue that reporters have called a “gigantic problem for Bill McCollum.” In addition, McCollum and the RPOF showed how offensively out-of-touch they have become with attacks and a video that ridiculed our law enforcement officers. We will keep holding them accountable for their outrageous actions, which is exactly why Bill McCollum was Adam Smith’s “Loser of the Week” last Sunday.

As always, thanks for being a part of our team.

-Jim Cassady

Latest Polling Shows Alex Sink and Bill McCollum locked in a “Tight Fight”:

Two new polls this week proved what we are feeling across the state: that the race for Florida’s next Governor’s is extremely competitive and extremely close. Two independent polls from Quinnipiac and Rasmussen showed a single-digit race that could come down to the wire in November. And that’s why your support and help getting Alex’s message out is more important than ever.

Quinnipiac polling also showed that a majority of Floridians (54-40) think McCollum’s health care lawsuit is a “bad idea”. It’s clear that Floridians have a problem with footing the bill for McCollum’s partisan stunt, and shows just how out of touch he is with our values and priorities.

Business Plan: Alex Sink Highlights Ideas for Growing Innovative Industries at Tech Incubator

On Monday, Alex emphasized her focus on helping innovative small businesses in the biotech, life science and IT sectors thrive to create a stronger economy on the eighth stop of her Business Plan for Florida Tour today at the Tampa Bay Technology Incubator.

Sink visited two innovative businesses located at the incubator and met with area business leaders from the IT and technology sectors. At the stop, Sink discussed how her Business Plan for Florida gives small businesses the support they need to grow and create jobs right now, and focuses on R&D investment and partnerships with universities to continue to develop innovative, sustainable businesses and remake Florida’s economy.

Republican Party Outrageously Goes After Law Enforcement in Offensive New Web Ad

This week, the Republican Party of Florida proved just how offensively out-of-touch they have become – putting their lack of respect for law enforcement officers and their families on full display in a ridiculous web video. You can even watch the Republican Party’s pathetic and offensive ad here: http://www.alexsink2010.com/page?id=0007.

This started because earlier in the week, Republicans in the Florida Legislature launched an outrageous attempt to deny the sworn law enforcement officers in Alex’s department the tactical weapons we purchase to keep them safe in a dangerous job. Bill McCollum’s campaign piled on the attack and finally the Republican Party of Florida released their web video. Alex was so outraged by this video attacking and ridiculing Florida’s law enforcement officers, that she sent it to all of her supporters, so they could see just how low McCollum and his allies at the Republican Party of Florida are willing to go.

Questions Continue About Bill McCollum Hiding Corruption, Stalling Investigation into Party Scandal

This week we learned that the FBI, IRS and U.S. Attorney are all involved in a criminal investigation into the scandalous actions of leaders at the Republican Party, and questions continue about Bill McCollum’s refusal to call for an investigation into this corruption for months and his own role in possibly trying to cover up this scandal.

Bill McCollum owes Floridians the truth about what he knew and what he tried to cover up in this growing scandal. We know Floridians are ready to clean up the mess in Tallahassee, and that Alex has a meaningful ethics reform plan to do just that, yet Bill McCollum is busy being bogged down in one of the largest scandal’s Tallahassee has ever seen. NBC’s Chuck Todd said it best when he called the growing Republican scandal a “gigantic problem for Bill McCollum,” and we intend to hold him accountable for it.

Business Plan for Florida: Alex Sink Details Plans for Creative, New Media Industries at Miami Dade College

On Thursday, Alex visited the Miami Dade College School of Entertainment and Design Technology and discussed how a focus on film, television and digital media production can help diversify Florida’s economy during the ninth stop of her Business Plan for Florida Tour today in Miami.

Alex was given a tour of the state of the art facilities at the Miami Dade College School of Entertainment and Design Technology and held a roundtable with MDC students, and leaders in the creative and new media industries. She discussed how we can make Florida a magnet for economic development in the entertainment and new media industry, and the need to better utilize the graduates of top-notch media production institutes in Florida.
