Camp Blanding’s “Overseers” Return from Iraq

Saturday ceremony to honor 2-111th Aviation Regiment at Cecil Field

WHAT: Members of the Florida Army National Guard’s 2nd Battalion, 111th
Aviation Regiment (Airfield Operations Battalion), based at Camp Blanding
Joint Training Center, Starke, Fla., will return from their year-long
deployment in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

WHEN: Saturday, May 8. Schedule is subject to change, but unit is expected to
arrive at Cecil Field in our own Florida Air National Guard C-130 aircraft at
approximately 11:00 a.m. Interested media should arrive no later than 10:30
a.m., particularly if you want to interview family members prior to the
landing and in case the aircraft arrives early.

WHERE: Florida National Guard Aviation Support Facility, located at 13630
Crossover St., Cecil Commerce Center, Jacksonville, Fla.

Military leaders, friends and family will gather at Cecil Field to welcome
home approximately 100 members of the 2nd Battalion, 111 Aviation Regiment,
Saturday. The unit returned to the U.S. recently following a mission
providing air traffic control services for more than 65,000 takeoffs and
landings in the Iraq theater.
