DEP To Host Innovative Technology Review Event
~DEP will evaluate technologies to clean oil impacted beaches~

PENSACOLA – Continuing its commitment to recovery efforts in the Gulf of Mexico, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is hosting an innovative technology review event today. The event will evaluate technologies that might offer additional capabilities to clean impacted beaches along Florida’s coastline.
The various technologies will be evaluated in the areas of effectiveness and efficiency of clean-up operation, ease of deployment, efficiency of disposal and scalability. Evaluators will include representatives from the Department of Environmental Protection.
The location will be determined based on morning reconnaissance regarding where oil impacts are being seen, but is tentatively scheduled to take place:
