Allen Boyd for Congress: A Time to Celebrate Our Independence

As Americans around the country gather this weekend to celebrate our nation’s independence, I would like to wish you and your family a very safe and happy holiday weekend. Independence Day is an important reminder of how blessed we are to live in a nation that celebrates freedom – an idea so perfectly expressed by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence as the unalienable right to “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

These are the ideals that make our country great. They are ideals that we began fighting for 235 years ago before the Declaration was signed, and we continue fighting for them today. We owe a great debt of gratitude to the brave men and women who have fought for our freedom throughout history. Many are continuing that fight today, and I thank them for their service.

Please enjoy Independence Day tomorrow with your family and friends. It’s a proud day to be an American.
