ORLANDO, Fla. — Today, the Pam Bondi campaign announced the endorsement of the Orlando Sentinel, which published their endorsement in an editorial in today’s paper. The endorsement is the fourth major newspaper to endorse Bondi and to take special recognition of her credentials as a career prosecutor and political outsider. The Sentinel noted the underwhelming records of Bondi’s opponents, both long-time politicians and senior officials in the Charlie Crist administration.
“The evidence in this political race between Pam Bondi and two career politicians is clear,” said general consultant Brett Doster. “I have every confidence the voters of Florida will rule in Pam Bondi’s favor.”
Excerpts from the editorial about Pam Bondi:
“Ms. Bondi is an 18-year prosecutor in the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office, who has raised her profile as a TV legal analyst. Her management experience comes from helping run the office, a $25 million-a-year operation.”
“Ms. Bondi has spent years going after crooks, and she says she would step up the attorney general’s anti-gang efforts. She also vows to carry out vigorously the office’s core responsibility to protect consumers. And she would revive the attorney general’s role as a citizen’s advocate for open government.”
Excerpts from the editorial about Pam Bondi’s opponent, the Lieutenant Governor of Charlie Crist:
“Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp, of Cape Coral, holds a largely ceremonial post. One of his few duties has been co-chairing Space Florida, an agency that wasted two years and millions of dollars before legislators began straightening it out.”
“Mr. Kottkamp has done little to draw public attention other than take advantage of taxpayer-paid travel on state planes. He’s a living, breathing argument for why the post of lieutenant governor shouldn’t exist.”
