Agency for Workforce Innovation and Workforce Florida, Inc. Release Joint Statement in Support of Workforce Development Month in Florida

TALLAHASSEE – Agency for Workforce Innovation Director Cynthia R. Lorenzo and Workforce Florida, Inc. President and CEO Chris Hart IV released the following joint statement today in support of the proclamation issued by Governor Charlie Crist recognizing September as Workforce Development Month in Florida:

“In the ten years since the creation of Florida’s current workforce system, Workforce Florida, the state’s 24 Regional Workforce Boards and the Agency for Workforce Innovation have served millions of Floridians.  This past year alone, we helped more than two million Floridians enhance their skills and improve their employment prospects,” said AWI Director Lorenzo.  “We are proud to join Governor Crist in applauding the hard-working professionals of Florida’s workforce system for their dedication to serving the people and businesses of our great state.”

“The commitment of Florida’s workforce partners to cultivate the talent needed to ensure Florida’s global competitiveness has never been more critical as we work together to reinvigorate our economy and prepare Florida’s citizens and businesses to capitalize on, and thrive in, the inevitable economic resurgence,” said Workforce Florida President/CEO Hart. “Our No. 1 priority is getting Floridians back to work and growing in their careers and Governor Crist’s proclamation underscores the importance of these diligent efforts.”
