Crist for U.S. Senate: Marco Rubio in his Own Words: He Can Run, But He Can’t Hide From His Extreme Tea Party Agenda

October 7, 2010 Politics No Comments

ST. PETERSBURG – In last night’s ABC News Debate, Marco Rubio repeatedly denied that he supports raising the retirement age and cutting Social Security benefits. Unfortunately for Rubio, he can run, but he can’t hide from his his own words or his extreme Tea Party agenda.

Watch Marco Rubio on Social Security HERE.

“Marco Rubio’s extremism knows no bounds – he wants to punish seniors, women, teachers and schoolchildren in the name of a far-right ideological agenda,” said Crist campaign spokesman Danny Kanner. “Marco Rubio may want to run away from his extreme Social Security scheme, but voters have a right to know that he would dismantle Social Security as we know it, and that Charlie Crist is the only candidate 100 percent committed to protecting it.”

Marco Rubio has signed a right-wing pledge calling Social Security “generational theft,” and has consistently supported raising the retirement age and cutting benefits. He also believes Roe v. Wade should be overturned and supported Senate Bill 6, a bill that would have punished our hard-working teachers.

Charlie Crist is fully committed to protecting and preserving Social Security as we know it, vetoed a bill that would have forced women to pay for and view an ultrasound before making personal health decisions, and vetoed Senate Bill 6.

“Charlie Crist is the only candidate who can win in November and then crash that Tea Party in Washington to deliver bipartisan solutions to the economic challenges we face,” said Kanner.
