Florida Honors its WWII Veterans The “Greatest Generation” Tour is Set to Kick-off in Honor of Florida’s Heroes

Tallahassee- Republican Party of Florida Chairman David Bitner is announcing the “Greatest Generation” Tour which will honor all the Floridians who served during WWII. The tour is set to kick-off on April 2nd in Pensacola and will take place one Saturday each month for six months.

Nearly 250,000 Floridians bore arms in service while the population surged on the home front. Military bases began to expand across the state while others were created to support the war effort overseas. Florida played a pivotal role during the war and was able to emerge as a top influential state in America.

The “Greatest Generation” Tour will be spearheaded by appointed Chairman Gary De Latorre of Hardee County, who successfully hosted a similar event with over 40 WWII veterans and 400 other participants in attendence. Events will take place in 6 major cities around the state including:

April 2nd                 Pensacola
April 30th                Jacksonville
May 28th                 Tampa
June 25th                Orlando
July 30th                 Sarasota
August 27th            Miami

Currently, 189,499 WWII veterans living in Florida. On average, 1000 veterans die nationally. The “Greatest Generation” Tour will not only recognize them for their achievements, but honor and thank them for their heroic sacrifice and service to their country and the great state of Florida.
