Governor Rick Scott Appoints Two to District Board of Trustees, Palm Beach State College

Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the reappointment of Wendy S. Link and the appointment of John F. Dowd III to the District Board of Trustees, Palm Beach State College.

Link, 47, of Palm Beach Gardens, has been an attorney and the managing partner of Ackerman, Link and Sartory since 1996. Earlier this year, she was appointed by Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater to chair the board of directors of Florida Healthy Kids Corporation. Her extensive community contributions include service on the leadership boards of the Economic Council of Palm Beach County Board of Directors, the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, and the Forum Club. In addition, she served on the Education Foundation of Palm Beach County Executive Board from 1996 to 2005 and has served on the advisory board for Riverside National Bank since 2006. Link received a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina and a law degree from Duke University. She is reappointed for a term beginning December 8, 2011, and ending May 31, 2015.

Dowd, 53, of Lantana, has been the senior vice president of development and acquisitions for The Goodman Company since 1998. With more than 30 years’ experience in the commercial real estate business, he was director of land and investments for Faison from 1995 to 1998, vice president of real estate for Pick Kwik Food Stores from 1992 to 1995, and president of Real Estate Investment Research Inc. from 1988 to 1992. Previously, he was the managing partner of Cecil Properties of Florida, an acquisitions specialist for The Myers Group Inc. and a broker with the Grubb and Ellis Company. He served on the Town of Lake Clarke Shores Code Enforcement Board from 2001 to 2006. Dowd received a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University. He succeeds Kenneth Kirby and is appointed for a term beginning December 8, 2011, and ending May 31, 2014.

The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
