Representative Jimmy Patronis to be Honored with Legislative Appreciation Award
TALLAHASSEE – The Florida League of Cities will honor Rep. Jimmy Patronis (R-Panama City) Friday, May 11, during the Northwest Florida League of Cities Annual Summer Dinner at the Wyndham Bay Point Golf Resort in Panama City Beach starting at 7:00 p.m.
This prestigious award is being presented to Rep. Patronis for his tireless efforts during the 2012 legislative session to protect the home rule powers of Florida’s cities by supporting the League’s legislative agenda. Rep. Patronis consistently voted in support of League positions, offered amendments to bills or worked behind the scenes to rally support for League positions. Legislative Appreciation Award recipients are legislators who consistently voted and advocated on behalf of the League and its members. Florida League of Cities lobbyists Ryan Matthews and Casey Cook will present the award to Patronis.
Florida League of Cities Legislative Director, Scott Dudley, stated “I can’t say enough good things about Rep. Patronis. He believes in allowing the level of government closest to the people make the decisions that affect the quality of life of the citizens they have been elected to represent. He deserves this prestigious award and we are so proud to be the organization to give it to him. Thank you Rep. Patronis for all that you do.”
Rep. Patronis was a Florida Senate intern in 1995, a research assistant for the House of Commons in London in 1996 and was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2006. He graduated from the Florida Chamber of Commerce Leadership Florida Program Class XVI, is past chairman of the Greater Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce, is director of the Gulf Coast Community College Foundation Board and is a member of the James Madison Institute.
