TALLAHASSEE, Fla.—Attorney General Pam Bondi released the following
statement regarding the ceremonial bill signing today of the Timeshare
Resale Accountability Act, which protects timeshare owners from timeshare
resale fraud in Florida. Timeshare resale fraud complaints have been the
top category of complaints received by the Attorney General’s Office over
the past several years. Attorney General Bondi supported this legislation
to strengthen existing laws by addressing unfair and deceptive marketing
and advertising practices by timeshare resale companies.  House Bill 1001
was sponsored by Representative Eric Eisnaugle and Senate Bill 1408 was
sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Andy Gardiner.

“By strengthening Florida’s timeshare resale laws and focusing on marketing
and advertising practices, we can protect timeshare owners from
unscrupulous companies that may try to scam them during the resale
process,” stated Attorney General Pam Bondi.
