Weekly Radio Address Friday, July 6, 2012
Hi, this is Governor Rick Scott.
This week we celebrated Independence Day and the birth of our nation.
We are so blessed to live in a country like no other, a country of liberty, where people are free to express their thoughts and ideas, a country where we are free to choose our own path.
One of the most remarkable traits of our great nation is the opportunity that we, as Americans, have to live freely and pursue our dreams. I see this demonstrated frequently as I travel throughout the state and talk with Floridians. I enjoy hearing their stories of determination to work hard and succeed.
As Americans, my wish is that we never take these opportunities for granted. Our independence was hard-fought by brave men and women who spoke up and defended the values we hold so dear. A similar courage is required today.
Brave men and women of our military, both past and present, continue to make our freedom possible. Please join me in thanking and honoring them for all they’ve done. Because of their sacrifice, and the sacrifice of their families, we can know that we are truly free.
