Governor Rick Scott Appoints Three to Seventh Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission
Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Steven N. Gosney, Katherine Hurst Miller and Raven E. Sword to the Seventh Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission.
Steven N. Gosney, 44, of Ormond Beach, has been an Assistant Public Defender in the Seventh Judicial Circuit since 2010. Previously, he was an Assistant State Attorney in the Seventh Judicial Circuit from 2004 to 2010 and an adjunct professor with Daytona State College from 2007 to 2008. He practiced with Landis Graham French P.A. from 1999 to 2004 and was executive officer of the East Florida Building Industry Association from 1993 to 1996. Gosney received a bachelor’s degree from Stetson University and a law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law. He succeeds Mary G. Jolley and is appointed for a term beginning July 11, 2012, and ending July 1, 2015. He is appointed from the list of nominees submitted by the Florida Bar.
Katherine Hurst Miller, 31, of Daytona Beach, has been an attorney with Cobb Cole since 2006. Miller received a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and a law degree from Stetson College of Law. She succeeds Allison L. Morris and is appointed for a term beginning July 11, 2012, and ending July 1, 2016. She is appointed from the list of nominees submitted by the Florida Bar.
Raven E. Sword, 35, of Palm Coast, practices with Livingston, Wolverton and Sword P.A., primarily handling family, bankruptcy and criminal defense cases. She practiced with Rice and Rose P.A. from 2006 to 2010 after previously practicing with a large Detroit law firm and serving as a deputy prosecutor in Indiana. Sword received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and a law degree from George Washington University Law School. She succeeds Dawn D. Nichols and is appointed for a term beginning July 11, 2012, and ending July 1, 2014. She is appointed from the list of nominees submitted by the Florida Bar.
