Governor Rick Scott Appoints “Brant” Schirard Jr. to Indian River State College District Board of Trustees

Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of J. Brantley “Brant” Schirard Jr. to the Indian River State College District Board of Trustees.

Schirard, 51, of Fort Pierce, has managed Blue Goose Growers Inc. since 2009 and has served as the president of Southern Harvesting LLC since 2005 and Schirard Citrus Inc. since 1989. Also, he is vice president of the Florida Farm Bureau, where he has served as a board member since 2006, and is a past president and member of the St. Lucie County Farm Bureau since 1985. He received an associate degree from Indian River Community College and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. He succeeds Jay “Hal” Roberts and is appointed for a term beginning July 16, 2012, and ending May 31, 2014.

The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
