July 25, 2012 Government No Comments

For Immediate Release July 25, 2012

Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Tampa Bay Regional Operations Center and the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles today arrested Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Ryan Evan Brescia, 38, Tampa, Fla., for three counts of withholding information from a practitioner, a third-degree felony.

FDLE was provided information by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ Office of Inspector General that Brescia had allegedly withheld information from two different physicians, on three occasions, to obtain hydrocodone-acetaminophen. Neither of the prescribing doctors was aware that the other had prescribed the controlled substances. This alleged activity occurred during February and March of 2012.

Brescia will be booked into the Hillsborough County Jail, and the case is being prosecuted by the Office of the Statewide Prosecutor.
