MIKE WEINSTEIN WINS JACKSONVILLE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE / WOKV HOB NOB 2012 STRAW POLL
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Mike Weinstein won tonight’s Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce’s Impact Jax / WOKV Straw Poll in his race for the State Senate, District 4 taking well over 50 percent of the votes cast for Republican candidates in the race. The annual Hob Nob Straw Poll is one of largest political events and straw polls in Jacksonville.
“Thank you to all of the voters who participated tonight in the Hob Nob Straw Poll. This reaffirms that Duval County voters want someone who is from Duval County to represent them in the State Senate. Momentum continues to build in our campaign as we look forward to earning the votes of the residents of District 4 in 2012. It is unfortunate that Tallahassee insiders continue to try to buy this election from the people of North Florida. I look forward to discussing with the voters the issues that are important to them such as getting Florida back to work, keeping taxes low and limiting the size of our government.” said Weinstein.
Weinstein presently is a State Representative running for the newly redrawn Senate District 4. He previously served as the Chief Financial Officer for Jacksonville mayors Ed Austin and John Delaney, the Executive Director of the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission, the President and CEO of the Jacksonville Super Bowl Host Committee and past-President of Take Stock in Children, a state-wide non-profit for underprivileged children. He currently serves as a prosecutor and the Executive Director for State Attorney Angela Corey’s office. Weinstein continues to build momentum as community leaders and organizations from inside the district are lining up to support him such as the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce, Northeast Florida Builders Association, Associated Industries of Florida, National Federation of Independent Business, Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, Florida Nurses Association, Building Owners and Managers Association of Florida, Jacksonville Association of Firefighters, Nassau County Firefighters, Jacksonville Police, Nassau County Police, Jacksonville Fire Chiefs, Jacksonville City Council President Bill Bishop, Jacksonville City Councilman Stephen Joost, Duval County Property Appraiser Jim Overton, Jacksonville City Councilman Matt Schellenberg, Jacksonville City Councilman Doyle Carter, Jacksonville City Councilman Don Redman, Jacksonville City Councilman Clay Yarborough, Jacksonville Beach Mayor Fland Sharp, Atlantic Beach Mayor Mike Borno, Neptune Beach Mayor Harriet Pruette, Atlantic Beach Mayor Pre Tem Maria Mark, Nassau County Assistant State Attorney Wes White, the North Florida Hispanic Leadership Alliance, Duval School Board Member Becki Couch, Duval County School Board Member Fred “Fel” Lee, former Duval County School Board Chair Nancy Broner, former City Council President Henry Cook, Jacksonville Beach City Councilman Lee Buck, Jacksonville Beach City Councilwoman Penny Christian, Jacksonville Beach City Councilman Steve Hartkemeyer, Jacksonville Beach City Councilwoman Jeanell Wilson, Jacksonville Beach City Councilman Rick Knight, Atlantic Beach City Commissioner Jonathan Daugherty, Jacksonville community leader Wyman Duggan, Jacksonville Jaguars original owner Wayne Weaver, Jacksonville business and political leader Tom Petway, First Coast Tea Party Co-Founder Billie Tucker, Florida Tea Party Leader Patricia Sullivan, State Representative Charles Van Zant, State Representative Larry Metz, United Christians of Florida, Mothers Against Drunk Driving Founder Candace Lightner, Jacksonville community leader Mike Hogan, former Jacksonville International Business Director George Banks and Governor Rick Scott’s Campaign Manager Susie Wiles.
