FHP releases I-75 reports

“The crashes on Interstate-75 in Alachua County in the early morning hours of Jan. 29, 2012, were tragic, and our prayers go out to the families involved,” said Col. David Brierton, director of the Florida Highway Patrol. “The Patrol has reviewed the events of the crash and is enhancing policies and training to advance our mission to promote a safe and secure Florida through professional law enforcement and traffic safety awareness.
“In an effort to keep the public informed about the crashes and the measures the Patrol is taking to enhance roadway safety, we are making several documents available to the public.”
The following reports are available:

* FHP’s Progress Report: Click here http://www.flhsmv.gov/fhp/pdf/I75ActionPlanProgressReport.pdf to download the report online.
* Traffic Crash Reports: There are six crash reports from the incident. Contact the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles’ Communications Office at HSMV-Info@flhsmv.gov or at 850-617-3102 to coordinate your request. Florida Statute 321.23 http://www.flsenate.gov/Laws/Statutes/2011/321.23 requires a $10 fee for each crash report.
* Southbound Traffic Homicide Investigation Report: Contact the Communications Office to coordinate your request. Florida Statute 321.23 http://www.flsenate.gov/Laws/Statutes/2011/321.23 requires a $25 fee for a Traffic Homicide Investigation Report.
*The Northbound Traffic Homicide Investigation Report is unavailable until the State Attorney’s Office releases it.
It would be improper to provide additional comment on the reports at this time because of legal action. Should you need clarification on the crash reports, you may contact the Communications Office to coordinate a response.
