FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ANNOUNCES NEW LEADERSHIP FOR OFFICE OF PERFORMANCE AND QUALITY IMPROVEMENT ~ White to keep focus on performance improvement~
TALLAHASSEE – State Surgeon General, Dr. John Armstrong, today appointed Rhonda White, MBA, to serve as the Director of the Office of Performance and Quality Improvement. Ms. White has served as the Chief for the Bureau of Preparedness and Response within the Division of Emergency Medical Operations and most recently served in the role of Acting Director for the Division of Disease Control and Health Protection. Ms. White recently celebrated 25 years with the Department.
“Rhonda’s leadership and commitment to health have helped us succeed in reaching a variety of Department objectives,” said Dr. Armstrong. “Her tenacity will propel our mission further as we reorganize our Department and accomplish our goal of being the premiere public health entity in the nation.”
Ms. White has a master’s degree in Business Administration from Florida State University and did her undergraduate work at the University of South Florida. She has worked in the STD and HIV/AIDS Programs, the Office of Planning, Evaluation & Data Analysis, and the Leon County Health Department.
She has 10 years of experience working to enhance Florida’s public health and healthcare preparedness system, post Sept. 11, 2001, during hurricane disasters, the H1N1 Pandemic and the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
Ms. White has extensive grant writing and planning skills and was critical in the successful implementation of DOH’s Operation Vaccinate Florida smallpox vaccine administration program, the multimillion dollar Department of Health and Human Services Public Health Emergency Preparedness and Hospital Preparedness Program Grants. The Florida Department of Health’s mission is to protect and promote the health of all residents and visitors in the state through organized state and community efforts, including cooperative agreements with counties.
