Governor Rick Scott Reappoints Seven to Judge of Compensation Claims
Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the reappointments of seven Judges of Compensation Claims.
Judge W. James Condry II, 54, of Orlando, has been a Judge of Compensation Claims for the Orlando region since 2001. Previously, he practiced with Broussard and Condry from 1992 to 2000; with Deciccio and Broussard from 1988 to 1992; and with Trial Defense Services from 1986 to 1988. He was a legal assistance attorney with the Office of Staff Judge Advocate and served as staff attorney for the Florida Department of Insurance from 1984 to 1985. He received bachelor’s and law degrees from Florida State University.
Judge Charles M. Hill III, 66, of Miami Springs, has been a Judge of Compensation Claims for the Miami region since 2004. Prior to that, he practiced law with Medley Law Center from 1996 to 2004; with Almeyda and Hill from 1986 to 1996; as a sole practitioner from 1981 to 1986; and with Sulli, Pastoriza and Hill from 1977 to 1981. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from South Texas College of Law.
Judge Daniel A. Lewis, 55, of Davie, has been a Judge of Compensation Claims for the Fort Lauderdale region since 1988. He practiced with David A. Danielson from 1987 to1988; with Adams, Kelley and Kronenberg from 1986 to 1987; with Lewis and Rodriguez from 1982 to 1986; and with Pyszka and Kessler from 1981 to 1982. He received a bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida.
Judge Ellen H. Lorenzen, 61, of Tampa, has been a Judge of Compensation Claims for the Tampa region since 2004. Previously, she was a sole practitioner from 1998 to 2004. She practiced with Barr Murman Tonelli from 1994 to 1998; with Travelers Insurance Company from 1986 to 1994; with the Steve Rosen law firm from 1985 to 1986; and with Continental Insurance Company from 1979 to 1985. She received bachelor’s degree from the Emory University and a law degree from Stetson University.
Judge Robert D. McAliley, 69, of Jupiter, has been a Judge of Compensation Claims for the Port St. Lucie region since 1997. Before that, he practiced with Bradfield and McAlily from 1987 to 1997; with Brennan, McAliley, Albury and Hayskar from 1974 to 1987; and was as a conflict construction supervisor with Florida Gas Transmission Company from 1961 to 1970. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida and a law degree from the University of Florida.
Judge Shelley H. Punancy, 63, of Boca Raton, has been a Judge of Compensation Claims for the West Palm Beach region since 2000. Prior to that, she practiced with Conroy, Simberg and Ganon from 1996 to 2000; Stiles, Taylor and Metzler in 1996; with Beisler and Beisler from 1988 to 1996; and with Kelley, Kronenberg and Kelley from 1987 to 1988. She received a bachelor’s degree from the Barry University and a law degree from Nova Southeastern University.
Judge Sylvia Medina-Shore, 46, of Miami, has been a Judge of Compensation Claims for the Miami region since 2000. Formerly she practiced with Conroy, Simberg, Ganon, Krevans and Abel from 1996 to 2000; with Almeyda and Hill from 1992 to 1996; and was in-house counsel at the Florida Department of Insurance in the Insolvency Division from 1990 to 1991. She received a bachelor’s degree from the Florida International University and a law degree from Stetson University.
“The proper administration of our worker’s compensation system depends upon judges who apply the law as written and who approach each case with impartiality and diligence,” Governor Scott said. “These seven judges have upheld these standards during their prior terms, and I am confident that justice will be well served by their reappointments.”
