Gov. Scott, First Lady, Publix Charities President Join Children’s Movement of Florida and United Way to Celebrate Launch of ReadingPals

~Early literacy initiative aims to help children read on grade level by third grade~

TALLAHASSEE – Governor Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott will join Dave Lawrence, chair of The Children’s Movement of Florida, and Carol Barnett, president of Publix Super Markets Charities, to celebrate the launch of ReadingPals. The early literacy initiative, made possible thanks to a grant by Carol and Barney Barnett, will aim to help children “learn to read” so that they can “read to learn” on grade level by third grade. The news conference and check presentation will be held at the LeRoy Collins Public Library on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 2 p.m.
