TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Lottery announces that Dora Pais, 76, of Fort Myers, claimed her share of the $17 million FLORIDA LOTTO(tm) jackpot from the drawing held on Wednesday, August 15. Pais is the last of four winners to come forward to claim her share of the winnings from the August 15 drawing.
Pais said she was so nervous and excited after finding out she won that she had a hard time writing her name on the back of the ticket. “My husband and I have been playing the same FLORIDA LOTTO numbers for more than 20 years now, and we are so thrilled that we finally won,” Pais added.
Pais chose to receive her winnings in a one-time, lump-sum payment of $3,016,930.29. Publix, located at 15880 Summerlin Road in Fort Myers, received a bonus commission of $17,500 for selling the winning FLORIDA LOTTO ticket. Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated more than $17 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
The next FLORIDA LOTTO drawing will be Wednesday, August 29, at 11:15 p.m. ET, with a $2 million jackpot. FLORIDA LOTTO drawings are broadcast on 17 carrier stations throughout the state, and are available for viewing on the Florida Lottery website.
