Duval County Tuberculosis Investigation Statement from Rep. Mia Jones (D-Jacksonville)
Democratic Ranking Member, House Health & Human Services Committee
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – State Representative Mia Jones (D-Jacksonville) issued the following statement following a media briefing conducted today by state health officials about their ongoing investigation of a tuberculosis cluster in Duval County.
“While there is still work to be done, I am pleased with the progress of the Duval County tuberculosis cluster investigation,” said Representative Jones. “The Florida Department of Health and the Duval County Health Department have assured me that the Jacksonville community at large remains safe from the spread of tuberculosis. However, because of the potential impacts of TB, Duval County’s homeless population has had to endure the brunt of this public health hardship. I will continue to monitor the prevention, investigation and treatment efforts of the state and local agencies while supporting any request for additional resources if needed.”
