City Manager Paul Berg Recently Honored with 2012 Home Rule Hero Award

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida League of Cities honored Eustis City Manager Paul Berg with the Home Rule Hero Award on September 6 at the Eustis City Council Meeting.

This prestigious award was presented to Mr. Berg for his tireless efforts during the 2012 legislative session to advance the League’s legislative agenda and help protect the home rule powers of Florida’s cities. Home Rule Hero Award recipients are local government officials – both elected and non-elected – who consistently responded to the League’s request to reach out to members of the Legislature and help give a local perspective to an issue.

Florida League of Cities Legislative Director Scott Dudley said, “Mr. Berg’s is a name that is synonymous with a Home Rule Hero. He is extremely dedicated and works hard for the citizens of Eustis. He brings that same level of commitment and energy to helping the Florida League of Cities lobbying team and is always ready and willing to contact legislators and help advocate in support of home rule. During the 2012 legislative session, Mr. Berg sent several city-specific, informative emails to legislators on issues ranging from local business tax, to pension reform, to local vendor preference. He has and always will be a valuable asset to his city and the State of Florida.”

Paul Berg has served as city manager of Eustis since 2007, and has served local governments for almost 40 years. He is certified as a Credentialed Manager by the International City/County Management Association. Mr. Berg has a B.A. in Political Science and a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs.
