Capital Health Plan Tops the Charts Again

September 21, 2012 Business No Comments

- CHP is NCQA’s Highest-Ranked HMO in the Nation for the Third Year -

TALLAHASSEE, FLA. – Capital Health Plan is once again recognized among the very best plans in the nation. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) has been releasing national rankings since 2005 and every year Capital Health Plan has been among the highest-ranked. According to “The NCQA’s Private Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2012-2013,” CHP’s commercial plan was ranked third overall in the published results and the top ranking HMO in the nation.

“Capital Health Plan is extraordinarily proud to be ranked again among the top plans in the country,” said Dr. Nancy Van Vessem, Capital Health Plan chief medical officer. “We are constantly working to improve the quality of our programs, and being recognized by NCQA seven years running is a tremendous honor.”

Joining Capital Health Plan’s commercial plans among the nation’s elite are the Capital Health Plan Medicare Advantage HMO plans, which were ranked fourth in “NCQA’s Medicare Health Insurance Plan Rankings 2012-2013” national assessment.

“Capital Health Plan is very proud of the high rankings we have earned for the past seven years,” said John Hogan, CEO of Capital Health Plan. “We strive to provide high quality care for all our members. The NCQA’s rankings reflect the dedication and hard work our staff and medical community exhibit every day.”

NCQA uses scores from HEDIS®, CAHPS® and NCQA Accreditation standards to calculate plan rankings. These scores reflect the results of consumer surveys and the plan’s success in prevention and treatment compared to other plans. Health plans voluntarily report their scores to NCQA using data from HEDIS® and CAHPS® in categories related to overall satisfaction, access to care, prevention and treatment.

Since 2001, Capital Health Plan has maintained an Excellent Accreditation rating from NCQA. Capital Health Plan was awarded the Excellent status for both its Commercial HMO and Medicare HMO plans earlier this year. This means that Capital Health Plan met or exceeded NCQA’s rigorous requirements for consumer protection and quality improvement. Capital Health Plan has held the Excellent accreditation status for 11 years.

Capital Health Plan’s commitment to member satisfaction shows in the outstanding results of member surveys. Those surveys show high satisfaction with Members Rating of Health Plan and Members Rating of Health Care.

NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance. NCQA’s Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS®) is the most widely used performance measurement tool in health care. For more information on NCQA ranking visit www.ncqa.org.
