Weekly Radio Address Friday, September 21, 2012

Hi, this is Governor Rick Scott.

First Lady Ann Scott and I are pleased to announce the Hispanic Heritage Month student contest and celebrate the diversity of Florida’s people and cultures. The 2012 Hispanic Heritage Month contests will help students appreciate the endless contributions of Hispanic culture in our everyday life, with the prize of 4 year college scholarships.

Florida’s growing Hispanic population enriches our state and strengthens Florida’s cultural and economic ties to Spain, Latin America and beyond. Also this week, I wrapped up my education listening tour in Fort Walton Beach and Crestview. I had the opportunity to meet with teachers and students to hear ideas about how we can make sure our students are successfully prepared for college and the workforce.

I invite you to read more about the education listening tour at www.flgov.com and information about the contests and Florida’s Hispanic heritage is available on Florida’s Hispanic Heritage Month website, www.floridahispanicheritage.com.
