Governor Scott Appoints Judge Thomas Portuallo to the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court

Tallahassee, Fla. –Governor Rick Scott announced today the appointment of Judge Thomas Portuallo, of Flagler Beach, to the Seventh Judicial Circuit Court.

Portuallo, 50, has served as a Judge of Compensation Claims for the Daytona Beach District since 1996. Previously, he was a sole practitioner from 1993 to 1996 and practiced with Portuallo and Hutter P.A. from 1989 to 1993 and with Rissman, Weisberg, Barrett and Hurt P.A. from 1986 to 1989. Portuallo received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a law degree from Stetson College of Law.

“For the past 16 years, Judge Portuallo has gained a reputation as a diligent, fair jurist who strictly adheres to the law as enacted by the Legislature. I am confident he will continue doing so as a circuit court judge,” Governor Scott said. “Judge Portuallo also has demonstrated an ability to effectively manage a heavy caseload and to utilize technology in the administration of justice. The Seventh Circuit will benefit from his talents.”

Portuallo will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Richard S. Graham.
