Former Department of Children and Families employee arrested for falsification of records and theft

Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Miami Regional Operations Center today arrested Katrina Darlene Dillon, 46, of Lake Park, Fla., for one count of petit theft, one count of grand theft, one count of official misconduct and one count of falsifying records. Dillon is a former Department of Children and Families employee, who resigned in November 2011.

FDLE was provided information by the Department of Children and Families’ Office of Inspector General that Dillon had allegedly falsified visitation documents, claiming she had completed an in-home visit, as well as used her state fuel card and phone for personal usage.

Agents allege that Dillon did not reimburse the state $4,497.50 for personal phones calls or $30.01 applied to her state fuel card for a gas purchase for her personal vehicle.

“The relationship between FDLE and DCF ensures accountability and that the safety of Florida’s children continues to be a priority,” said Miami Regional Operations Center Special Agent in Charge Addy Villanueva.

“Anytime we believe one of our employees put a child at risk by falsifying documents, we report that immediately to FDLE so criminal charges can be pursued,” said DCF Secretary David Wilkins. “We will not tolerate these actions, and we appreciate our law enforcement partners helping us ensure the safety of children across the state.”

FDLE agents also verified that Dillon had documented that she checked on a child at specific times when in fact she had not. The investigation into Dillon’s actions allowed agents to secure a warrant for her arrest. The alleged violations occurred in November of 2011.

Dillon was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail.
