Florida National Guard to honor Jacksonville native Gen. Craig R. McKinley upon his retirement

WHAT – A military retreat ceremony to honor Gen. Craig R. McKinley, former Chief of the National Guard Bureau, who is retiring after more than 35 years of military service – four of those as the Chief of the National Guard Bureau. McKinley, a Jacksonville native and Florida National Guardsman, was the first Chief of the National Guard Bureau to hold a position on the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

WHEN – 3 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012. Media are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes prior to the event.

Media members will have the opportunity to conduct interviews immediately following the ceremony.

WHERE – Florida National Guard Headquarters, St. Francis Barracks, 82 Marine St., St. Augustine, Fla., 32084.

Media members will need to enter Marine Street from the south via South Street in order to access media parking and check-in. Media will be required to provide credentials. See attached map.

The traditional military ceremony will include music by the Florida National Guard’s 13th Army Band.
