Staff changes: West moves from FRF to lobbying team for major drug store chain

TALLAHASSEE – Sally West, longtime Florida Retail Federation director of government affairs, accepted a position this month with the Walgreen Company as the Southeast Manager of State Government Relations.

West, a Tallahassee native and graduate of Florida State University, leaves FRF after a nine-year tenure that included successes such as passing major health care price transparency legislation, and expanding the availability of vaccinations at retail pharmacies. West served as the staff director of FRF’s Retail Pharmacy Council, and holds a post on the State Consumer Health Information and Policy Advisory Council at the Agency for Health Care Administration.

“We are sad to see Sally leave our team, but we are also delighted that she will still be a part of our work in Florida,” said FRF President and CEO Rick McAllister. “FRF will continue to be the most trusted and effective advocate for Florida’s retail pharmacies.”

At Walgreens, West will have direct responsibility for government relations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, South Carolina and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The Florida Retail Federation is the statewide trade association representing Florida’s second largest employment industry. Florida retailers pay more than $49 billion in wages annually, provide one out of every five jobs in the state, and collect and remit more than $20 billion in sales and retail-related taxes for Florida’s government each year.
