Statement from Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty Expressing Condolences for those Affected by Hurricane Sandy

“I would like to offer my thoughts and prayers to those impacted by Hurricane Sandy. I have been in contact with several of the insurance commissioners in the affected states, and have offered any assistance that we can provide based on our state’s expertise in handling catastrophic events.

The destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy should serve as a reminder of the importance of disaster planning, retrofitting homes in wind-prone areas, and in strengthening building codes – efforts that have been very successful in Florida.”
