Florida National Guard Foundation receives large donation from Kangaroo Express

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Nov. 8, 2012) – Maj. Gen. Emmett R. Titshaw, the Adjutant General of Florida, accepted a check for $180,000 from Kangaroo Express on behalf of the Florida National Guard Foundation at the Florida National Guard headquarters in St. Augustine, Fla., Nov. 8, 2012.
“This contribution will go a long ways in helping the Foundation to provide support to Soldiers and Airmen and their families in their time of need,” said Retired Brig. Gen. Richard Capps, President of the Florida National Guard Foundation.
The donation is part of the company’s “Salute Our Troops” fundraising campaign which took place this summer. Kangaroo Express raised a total of $3.17 million for military support organizations, including the United Services Organization and the Wounded Warrior Project.
“This significant donation builds on Kangaroo Express’ ongoing commitment and gratitude for the sacrifices required to protect our nation and preserve our freedom,” said John Fisher, senior vice president of marketing, merchandising and restaurant operations for Kangaroo Express. “We look forward to continuing to work with the FLNG Foundation to support our National Guard servicemen and women and their families right here in Florida.”
The Florida National Guard Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides support to the men and women of the Florida National Guard in times of emergencies and deployments. Due to its low administrative costs, 95 percent of the donations to the Foundation go directly to assisting the men and women of the Florida National Guard.
In the past year, the Florida National Guard Foundation provided $85,000 to support Soldiers and Airmen and their families by providing assistance with vehicle repairs, groceries, gas, medical expenses and household bills.
“That is the sole purpose of the Foundation – to support the men and women in uniform and to promote the legacy of the Florida National Guard,” said Capps.
