Florida Department of Health Shines Blue Spotlight for World at Florida Historic Capitol on Diabetes Day

FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SHINES BLUE SPOTLIGHT FOR WORLD AT FLORIDA HISTORIC CAPITOL ON DIABETES DAY

What: The Florida Department of Health (DOH), partners and featured speakers will highlight World Diabetes Day and the importance of diabetes education, prevention and awareness during a press conference. Speakers: DOH Deputy Secretary for Health Dr. Dennis Cookro MD, MPH, the Diabetes Advisory Council Chairman Chet Evans and local teen advocate Ms. Haley May.

When: Wednesday, Nov. 14 at 11:00 a.m.

Media set-up time and location for the press conference: 10:30-11:00 a.m.

Where: Front Steps of the Florida Historic Capitol Museum

Tallahassee, Florida 32399

Note: At dusk on Nov. 14, the Florida Historic Capitol Museum will light up in blue, joining the Empire State Building, Sydney’s Opera House, Niagara Falls, the Pyramids and over a thousand other iconic landmarks across the world to honor the battle against diabetes.

Following the press conference, event attendees will create a mass human formation of a blue circle and State Chef Justin Timineri will be cooking healthy foods for the crowd.
