Four additional arrests in statewide pill mill investigation
MIAMI – The Florida Department of Law Enforcement Miami Regional Operations Center and Hollywood Police Department arrested four more suspects linked to a statewide pill mill investigation. The investigation began in May 2011 involving organized doctor shopping and drug trafficking in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Doctor shoppers utilized the alleged pill mill, Med One Care Center, and pharmacy, Brothers Pharmacy, to obtain thousands of oxycodone pills to be sold for nonmedical needs in North and South Florida.
Suspects arrested today are charged with one count of racketeering and one count of conspiracy to traffic in oxycodone. They are:
Jorge Trelles, 35, owner of Brothers Pharmacy, of Palmetto Bay, Fla.
William Walker, 70, pharmacist at Brothers Pharmacy, of Miami
Margaret Tucker, 28, Med One Care Center employee, of Miami
Steve Miller, 41, Med One Care Center volunteer, of Miami
With today’s additional arrests, a total of 19 suspects have been arrested.
Authorities allege doctor shoppers worked under the direction of Frank Wooden Sr. of Lake Worth, Fla. Wooden, agents believe, gathered the pills purchased in South Florida and later transported them to Georgia and North Florida where they were sold.
Those previously arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit racketeering, first-degree money laundering, conspiracy to traffic in oxycodone and obtaining a controlled substance by fraud, were:
