Gov. Scott Joins Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation in Awarding $300,000 in Grants

JACKSONVILLE – Today, Governor Rick Scott was joined by executives of Firehouse Subs in awarding 16 public safety entities across Florida and Southeast Georgia grants totaling $300,000. Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization started by Firehouse Subs co-founders Robin and Chris Sorensen, raises funds through in-store initiatives and external donations to purchase equipment needed by public safety officials.

The ceremony was held at a Firehouse Subs restaurant in Jacksonville, the hometown of the Firehouse Subs restaurant. “Firehouse Subs is a perfect example of the impact that a business can have on a community, families and the economy,” said Governor Scott, “The success in growing Firehouse Subs from one small restaurant here in Jacksonville, to a nationally thriving business that gives back to the communities which is serves is remarkable.”

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded over 5.2 million dollars in grants to 33 states and Puerto Rico since its inception in 2005. “Our heartfelt thanks to Governor Rick Scott for attending today’s donation. His presence spreads the message that Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation saves lives; in the state of Florida we’ve donated more than $1.1 million to hometown heroes, and with the continued support of our customers we will make our first responders stronger,” says Robin Sorensen, who co-founded Firehouse Subs and Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with his brother Chris.

At the end of his remarks Governor Scott awarded both Robin and Chris Sorensen the Governor’s Business Ambassador Award in appreciation of their efforts to give back to the community.
