SOUTH CAROLINA MAN CLAIMS $2 MILLION POWERBALL® WITH POWER PLAY® PRIZE IN FLORIDA

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Lottery announces that James Braxton, Jr., 41, claimed a $2 million POWERBALL® prize from the November 28 drawing. Braxton, a truck driver from Williston, South Carolina, purchased his winning ticket from Pilot Travel Center, 35647 Highway 27 in Haines City. The retailer received a $5,000 bonus commission for selling the $2 million POWERBALL with Power Play® ticket.

“I’ve played POWERBALL with Power Play for years—always using Quick Pick and always playing at the same truck stop in Haines City,” said Braxton. “I can’t wait to tell my family that it has finally paid off.”

Braxton decided to keep his entire family out of the loop until he returned from what he told them was a business trip to Florida. After giving his family the exciting news, he plans to leave his job and open up a few franchises back in South Carolina.

Braxton is the 1st Florida player to claim a $2 million prize from Wednesday’s historic $587.5 million POWERBALL jackpot drawing. This POWERBALL drawing created six new Florida millionaires and 765,798 lower tier winners statewide as well as generating approximately $58 million in transfers to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.

The next POWERBALL drawing will be held Wednesday, December 5, at 10:59 p.m. ET with a $50 million jackpot. National POWERBALL drawings are broadcast live, in high-definition, from the Florida Lottery’s state of the art draw studio in Tallahassee on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Winning numbers are available on the Lottery website, at retailers statewide and by phone at (850) 921-PLAY.
