Florida Air National Guard F-15 flight under investigation

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Dec. 5, 2012) – An F-15 Eagle pilot is under investigation based on media reports that a Florida Air National Guard aircraft was flying too low over a Des Moines, Iowa, neighborhood on Dec. 4.

The Florida National Guard confirms one of its F-15 Eagles from the 125th Fighter Wing, based at the Jacksonville International Airport in Florida, was flying to Sioux City, Iowa, for scheduled maintenance. It had no reported mechanical problems.

Because safety is the Florida National Guard’s number one priority, a thorough investigation is underway to determine exactly what occurred. The pilot has been assigned to non-flying duties during the conduct of the investigation.
