Statement from CEA-Florida Executive Director Kevin Doyle on Senator Wilton Simpson’s Legislation Regarding Natural Gas
Tallahassee, Fla. – Kevin Doyle, executive director of the Consumer Energy Alliance-Florida, today issued the following statement regarding state Senator Wilton Simpson’s introduction of legislation regarding natural gas.
“The Consumer Energy Alliance commends Senator Wilton Simpson and his House colleague, Representative Lake Ray, on their leadership on energy issues in Florida. Senator Simpson’s introduction of Senate Bill 560. which promotes additional development and usage of natural gas in Florida, complements the Consumer Energy Alliance’s goal of an all-of-the-above approach for our energy future. We are always encouraged when our elected officials are engaged in this important issue for our state and our nation. Florida depends heavily on natural gas for its electricity and industry, and we applaud all efforts to help promote this in our state.
The Consumer Energy Alliance (CEA) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that supports the thoughtful utilization of energy resources to help ensure improved domestic and global energy security and stable prices for consumers. The Alliance seeks to help improve consumer understanding of our nation’s energy security, including the need to reduce reliance on imported oil and natural gas, maintain reasonable energy prices for consumers, properly balance our energy needs with environmental and conservation goals and continue efforts to diversify our energy resources. The mission of CEA has always been to expand the dialogue between the energy and consuming sectors to improve overall understanding of energy security and the thoughtful development and utilization of energy resources, in order to help create sound energy policy and maintain stable energy prices for consumers.
