BUY TWO FLORIDA TREASURE HUNT SCRATCH-OFF TICKETS AND GET A LITTLE SOMETHING EXTRA
~From the Florida Lottery and Participating Retailers Statewide~

TALLAHASSEE – In appreciation for both its players and retailers, and in support of the recently launched FLORIDA TREASURE HUNT Scratch-Off game, the Florida Lottery is conducting a Retailer Cup Promotion from February 4 through March 3, 2013. While supplies last, players will receive a free 16-ounce new Florida Lottery® logo cup filled with either coffee or a fountain drink when they purchase two $3 FLORIDA TREASURE HUNT Scratch-Off tickets from any of the Lottery’s 3,000 participating retailers statewide.

During the four-week retailer cup promotion, participating retailers will be entered into one of 18 drawings to be held on March 31, 2013. One corporate retailer and one independent retailer from each of the nine Florida Lottery sales districts will be randomly selected to receive a $10,000 cash prize.

To commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the European discovery of Florida, the Lottery is partnering with the Florida Department of State, VISIT FLORIDA and the University of West Florida to promote and generate excitement about the rich history of our state with the FLORIDA TREASURE HUNT game. This Scratch-Off ticket features a historic replica of a 500-year-old map of Florida which players navigate by scratching the ticket to reveal symbols to determine if it is a winner – making this $3 ticket fun to play while having the chance to win up to $50,000 instantly. In addition, players can enter their non-winning tickets into the Viva Florida 500 Second Chance Promotion for a chance to win a 2013 Mazda CX-5, a Florida vacation getaway to Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Hawk’s Cay Resort on Duck Key, Melia Orlando Suite Hotel in Orlando or Renaissance World Golf Village in St. Augustine provided by VISIT FLORIDA or $500 cash.

Widely recognized as one of the most efficiently-operated lotteries in the nation, the Florida Lottery will continue to apply fiscally conservative principles in its daily operations. Because the Lottery operates as a self-funding enterprise, with no tax revenues, it is able to raise profits for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) by both increasing sales and reducing administrative expenses.
The Florida Lottery offers approximately 60 Scratch-Off games at any given time through vending machines or counter displays at more than 13,000 retailers statewide. Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, making up approximately 58 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $495 million for the (EETF) in fiscal year 2011-12.

ABOUT THE FLORIDA LOTTERY

The Florida Lottery is an integral part of Florida’s culture and landscape. Responsible for contributing more than $24 billion to education and sending more than 600,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Program, the Florida Lottery is a dependable source of financial support for the state. The agency reinvests nearly 98 percent of its revenue back into Florida’s economy through prize payouts, commissions to more than 13,000 Florida retailers, and transfers to education. Since its inception, Florida Lottery games have also made more than 1,200 people millionaires. That’s more than $37.7 billion in prize payouts since 1988 when the first ticket was sold. As the agency celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2013, an innovative and fresh spirit shines through with a mix of new and classic games, an updated logo design and new brand identity, as well as a renewed commitment to benefitting the state, all while inspiring Floridians to imagine the possibilities of their dreams coming true.
