WHAT THEY ARE SAYING:
Business Environment and Tax Incentives
Lead to 750 New Verizon Jobs in Seminole Co.

A Reason for Celebration
Anchor: “A reason for celebration in Seminole County this morning. Hundreds of good paying jobs are coming to central Florida thanks to an expansion from Verizon wireless.” (WESH-ORD (NBC) – Orlando, FL, 2/13/2013 4:35:55 PM)

Jobs Well Worth It
Reporter, Dave McDaniel: “A huge win for Seminole county when it comes to economic development. 750 new jobs. A $50 million brand-new office building. All expected to be located right here on this land in Heathrow…Tax incentives don’t hurt either. State and local governments pledge to give Verizon $6 million in breaks. Incentives based on delivering the jobs and it’s considered well worth it…

“Verizon will nestle into Heathrow already home for many high-tech, financial, white collar jobs. Lake Mary was called the perfect ‘local’ with its quality of life and cost of living. People moving here and their families will have the offer of in state tuition at UCF, Valencia and Seminole State. Once ground is broken, 400 new construction jobs will be needed. All reasons for smiles all around. The first 300 of the Verizon jobs should be in place in Seminole county by the end of 2014. All 750 ought to be moved in and in place by the end of 2016.” (WESH-ORD (NBC) – Orlando, FL, 2/13/2013 4:35:55 PM)

Increase the Tax Base and Bring in New Jobs
Bob Dallari, County Commission Chairman: “We’re talking ‘class A’ office building that’s going to increase our tax base as well as bring in new jobs.” (WESH-ORD (NBC) – Orlando, FL , 2/13/2013 4:35:55 PM)

Our Investment is Nominal When You Look at What We Get in Return
David Mealor, Lake Mary Mayor: “That will be a $60 million payroll for Seminole County to invest in the Central Florida region. It’s remarkable. Our investment is nominal when you look at what we’ll gain in return.” (WESH-ORD (NBC) – Orlando, FL, 2/13/2013 4:35:55 PM)

Verizon Chose Metro Orlando For Region’s Pipeline of New Grads
Anchor: “Verizon says it chose metro Orlando for the region’s pipeline of new grads who’ve studied finance and accounting.” (WUFT (NBC) – Gainesville, FL, 2/13/2013 5:07:25 PM)

Verizon Chose Lake Mary For Good Business Reasons
Michelle Robinson, Verizon Communications: “Verizon didn’t choose Lake Mary randomly, Verizon chose Lake Mary because of a host of good and sound business reasons, including the fact that it’s a good place to live, work, and generally do business.” (Central Florida News 13 – Orlando, FL, 2/13/2013 11:36:38 PM)
