STATE SURGEON GENERAL TO HOST SYMPOSIUM ON HEALTH EQUITY

TALLAHASSEE- State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong will participate in a panel discussion on how to best achieve Health Equity in our state. The diverse panel will discuss how to cooperatively eliminate health disparities in our state. The symposium will take place at Florida International University and is made up of several South Florida panelists.

For those who can not attend, FIU will live stream the Health Equity Symposium via http://webcast.fiu.edu/

State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health, Dr. John Armstrong
Professor of Public Health at Florida International University, Dr. William W. Darrow
Project Manager for Red Fields to Green Fields Miami, John M. Bowers
Regional Planner with the South Florida Regional Planning Council, Karen D. Hamilton
Associate Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Miami, Dr. Erin Kobetz
Chief of the Planning and Research Division of the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces, Maria I. Nardi

The symposium will be moderated by Dr. Yolangel Hernandez-Suarez, Chief Medical Officer of the Florida International University HealthCare Network.
