Governor Rick Scott Announces New Jobs at Advanced Pharma

MIAMI, FL – Today, Governor Rick Scott visited Advanced Pharma to kick-off the grand opening of their new facility that will create 60 new jobs by 2014.

Governor Scott said, “The founders of Advanced Pharma recognized the strong business climate and the diverse workforce we have in Florida. In the four years before I took office, we lost over 800,000 jobs and the unemployment rate was 11.1 percent. Since I took office two years ago, Florida’s unemployment rate has dropped to 8.1 percent, and we have added around 200,000 jobs.

“Advanced Pharma is building on this success. By setting a goal of employing 100 people by 2014, they are giving 100 Florida families the opportunity to live their version of the American Dream right here in the Sunshine State.”

Advanced Pharma, a Phase I-IV Clinical Research Facility, located within the City of Miami’s Health District, was founded in 2009 with four employees. They currently have 40 employees and plan to add an additional 60 by the end of 2014.

Joining Governor Scott were the company’s founders President and CEO, Samantha Amaba, and Vice President and COO, Ivette Lopez. “We were thrilled to have Governor Scott visit today and join in celebrating with us,” said Lopez. “Sam and I are from two different countries but our core values are the same. We run this facility like it is our home and our employees and volunteers are our family.”

“It is our duty to give back,” said Amaba. “We are proud to be able to provide employment opportunities, but we are most proud of the work our employees do here on a daily basis, it is impressive and imperative for identifying potential treatments that can improve, save lives and advance medical care as we know it.”

As a Phase I-IV clinical research facility, Advanced Pharma conducts all phases of clinical trials from initial testing to market, in all therapeutic areas. They are aligned with over 50 board certified physicians, servicing all specialties and all indications. Their brand new, state of the art facility is 25,000 square feet. The dedicated Phase I clinical trial unit features dormitories with 150-bed capacity, including a 16-bed and a 24-bed Intensive Procedural Unit.

With a prime location in the center of the University of Miami’s Life Science and Technology Park, Advanced Pharma has attracted and maintained a database of over 10,000 diverse research volunteers.
