Statement by Rep. Jason Brodeur on the Appropriations Committee’s Passage of Pension Reform
Tallahassee, Fla.—State Representative Jason Brodeur (R-Sanford), sponsor of HB 7011, today released the following statement regarding the Appropriations Committee’s passage of the pension reform bill:
“I am pleased with the Committee’s passage today of this reasonable proposal for pension reform. These sensible reforms will provide savings for Florida’s taxpayers and financial certainty for our state, while most importantly offering future employees a meaningful retirement benefit they control, without affecting any of the benefits our current employees have been promised and expect. By addressing this issue now, before our state is put into a dire situation and struggling to meet pension obligations, we have the opportunity to work together to develop solutions like this in a thoughtful, deliberate and balanced way. I thank the Members of the House Appropriations Committee for recognizing the importance of moving forward on this issue and appreciate their thoughtful debate on the proposal.”
HB 7011 Florida Retirement System will be heard next in the State Affairs Committee.
