Statement by Commissioner Adam Putnam on House Committee’s Vote to Ban Internet Casinos

Commissioner of Agriculture Adam H. Putnam released the following statement today, applauding the House Select Committee on Gaming for taking a step towards banning Internet casinos in Florida. The committee voted 15-1 on amended HB 155 to outlaw these facilities.

“Internet casinos are a front for gambling and a breeding ground for other illegal activity. We must close the loophole in the law that has enabled them to invade our communities. The House Committee’s vote today brings us one step closer to shutting down Internet casinos and improving the safety of Florida’s communities.”
