Statements by Rep. Jose Felix Diaz and Rep. Alan Williams on the Passing of Rep. Clay Ford

Tallahassee, Fla.—House Energy & Utilities Subcommittee Vice Chair Jose Felix Diaz (R-Miami-Dade) and Democratic Ranking Member Alan Williams (D-Tallahassee) today released the following statements on the passing of Representative Clay Ford (R-Gulf Breeze).

“I was deeply saddened today to learn of the passing of our Chairman, Representative Clay Ford. Clay was an honorable man who dedicated many years of his life to serving our great state and our country. I greatly admired and respected Clay’s strong principles, unwavering integrity and the passion with which he continually fought for the best interest of Floridians. It was a privilege to serve with him in the Florida House and as his Vice Chairman on this committee. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his family and friends during this difficult time. I know he will be missed by all those who knew him and those who he served,” said Rep. Diaz.

Rep. Williams went on to state, “I am deeply saddened by the passing of my good friend and colleague, Representative Clay Ford. As state representatives from North Florida and as colleagues on the House Energy & Utilities subcommittee, Clay and I were drawn to one another early in our legislative careers and maintained a strong friendship that transcended politics. Clay had the charm of a Southern gentleman that I greatly appreciated when we faced tough and complex issues. Today, my thoughts and prayers are with his wife Carol and the rest of Clay’s family. Clay will be greatly missed.”
