Governor Rick Scott Appoints Three to the South Florida Water Management District
Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Rick Scott announced the appointments of Frederick “Rick” Barber and Mitchel A. Hutchcraft, and the reappointment of Kevin P. Powers to the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District.
Barber, 66, of Bonita Springs, is the chief executive officer of Agnoli, Barber & Brundage. Previously, he served on the statewide stormwater rule technical advisory committee at the Department of Environmental Protection, the budget finance Committee of the South Water Management District and the Lee County land stewardship acquisition committee. Barber served in the United States Navy from 1965-1969. Barber received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. He succeeds Daniel DeLisi, and is appointed for a term beginning March 29, 2013, and ending February 25, 2015.
Hutchcraft, 46, of Ft. Myers, is the vice president of King Ranch. He was previously a member of the Lee County local planning agency for conservation land acquisition. Hutchcraft received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Florida. He succeeds Joe E. Collins, and is appointed for a term beginning March 29, 2013, and ending March 1, 2017.
Powers, 42, of Indiantown, is a partner at Indiantown Realty. He currently serves as vice chairman of the South Florida Water Management District and chairman of the Water Resources Advisory Commission. Powers received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. He is reappointed for a term beginning March 29, 2013, and ending March 1, 2017.
The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
