Volusia County- US 92 and Interstate 4 travelers in Volusia County will encounter a traffic shift and temporary signal, which will last for approximately six months, as the I-4 widening project enters a new phase. The project is underway between DeLand and Daytona Beach.
US-92 westbound travelers heading to I-4 westbound will now have to make a left turn exit, at the new signal, instead of a right turn exit. This shift is necessary to allow for the demolition and reconstruction of the US 92 westbound to I-4 ramp bridge over US 92.
The temporary signal and turn lane will be in effect from July 8, 2013 to mid January 2014. The new ramp bridge will be opened prior to the 2014 Daytona 500 races.
Traffic delays are not expected to increase, however motorist should be aware of a new traffic pattern. Motorists are urged to slow down, obey the posted speed limit, and drive with caution through the work zone. Traffic safety devices are set up to guide motorists through the project safely.
The Florida Department of Transportation urges motorists to buckle up. Safety belts save lives. Also, don’t text and drive; please pay attention to the road.
