Gov. Rick Scott didn’t put it this way when he spoke last week at Sandestin, but the conclusion is unavoidable: In Florida, less government means more business. The less Florida regulates, the less Florida taxes and the less Florida meddles in the private sector, the more luck it will have attracting new industry. …
He said the state has cut 2,600 regulations.
He boasted that the state has reduced business and property taxes.
He reminded the group that the state has cut sales taxes on machinery equipment. …
“There’s no company in the country that shouldn’t want to be headquartered in this state and grow in this state,” Gov. Scott said. That’s true — as long as Florida is committed to being business-friendly.
