Statement from the Florida Department of Health: Withlacoochee and Suwannee River Water Meets Water Quality Standards
TALLAHASSEE – The Florida Department of Health has lifted its precautionary health advisory issued on August 28 after the City of Valdosta reported a wastewater plant overflow which spilled into the Withlacoochee River. The Withlacoochee flows south and connects with the Suwannee River.
Recent river water samples taken by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) indicate the river water meets surface water quality standards.
